3 Reasons Why You Don't Need to KNOW More To Be a Successful Agent

 
 
I noticed a reoccurring theme this week when coaching some of my students. 
 
 
They told me that they needed, confidence to be a successful realtor. 
 
 
When I asked them how to get that confidence, the consistent answer was…
 
 
KNOWLEDGE… 
 
 
In this weekly habit strategy email, I want to share with you 3 reasons why that's not the case.
 
 
  1. Busy not building your business - 
 
While becoming more knowledgable is helpful in almost every aspect of life. 
 
It also can lead you down the path of focusing on specific actions that don’t drive your business forward. 
 
For example, just look back at your day. 
 
What are you doing the majority of the time? 
 
Is it prospecting? 
 
Also known as calling, texting, emailing, direct messaging on social media, following up, speaking in person/zoom, and so many other ways of connecting with people. 
 
If you aren’t, then you are just staying busy and not building your business. 
 
This leads to the second reason why you don't need to know more to be a successful agent.
 
  1. It prevents you from taking action - 
 
For those of us that quantify being a successful agent with knowing a lot. 
 
Generally, they are not taking action in most cases. 
 
They have set the expectation that they can’t prospect because they have not met a certain threshold of knowledge. 
 
So, we either focus on actions that don't grow our business or choose not to take action on anything else until this internal expectation is met. 
 
This leads us to the third and final reason why you don't need to know more to be a successful agent.
 
  1. It’s not about knowing it’s about doing - 
 
How does one learn to be knowledgable? 
 
They read books or articles. 
 
They watch videos or maybe even listen to audio files. 
 
Right…
 
Now, look a little bit closer. 
 
What's actually happening is that we are using our senses… 
 
That right hearing, seeing, touching, tasting, and smelling to create evidence that we are getting better. 
 
Over time you learn to believe that when you learn more, you build confidence. 
 
That confidence then leads to you building trust in yourself to take action on prospecting. 
 
Again that consists of the following: calling, texting, emailing, direct messaging on social media, following up, speaking in person/zoom, and so many other ways of connecting with people. 
 
But….
 
Here’s the twist… 
 
the best way to build evidence, to build confidence, to trust yourself is to… 
 
Take action
 
Here's why, when you take action. 
 
When you experience an event. 
 
First hand. 
 
How many senses are you implementing? 
 
Subconsciously all of them. In that moment of prospecting, all five senses are engaged. 
 
This leads to your brain releasing chemicals that make that one-time event so much more impactful than reading, watching, or listening to real estate content.  
 
 
What’s SOOOOO essential to understand is that those feelings. 
 
When prospecting, can be so powerful. 
 
That it can cause you to either continue to prospect or not. 
 
In most cases, sending you back to believing that you need to KNOW more to finally get your business going. 
 
 
If knowledge is stopping you from prospecting. 
 
If you tell yourself, you need to KNOW more to be a successful agent.
